Our Partners

RCC strives to foster global collaboration and synergies between organizations and institutional efforts. We have developed our mission with the support and communication of the following groups, as well as the thought contributions of radiation oncology professionals, field-experts, and cancer capacity building advocates throughout the field. Through effective communication, we hope to increase transparency and partnership between global health organizations and clinics in need. 

 

Core Partners

Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a model of education and care management that empowers local resources to provide better care to more patients. RCC's Radiation Oncology Project ECHO increases access to specialty treatment in rural and underserved areas by providing front-line clinicians with the knowledge and support they need to manage patients with complex conditions.

ProKnow is an exciting new technology company founded by industry leaders from radiation oncology. ProKnow makes a cloud-based RT-PACS and big data discovery system as well as cloud-based quality systems for contouring and planning. Their stated mission is to help improve the standard of care in radiation oncology by providing high-performance, cloud-based software solutions. 

Radiating Hope is a group of specialists around the globe who help with the acquisition of radiotherapy equipment and technology that is essential for modern cancer therapy. RCC is working with Radiating Hope to identify equipment needs and challenges in Latin America and other parts of the world, and assist in the follow through with education, training, and remote clinic support to operate technology safely and effectively.

FlexPort is a freight forwarding and customs brokerage company that specializes in importing and exporting items by air, ocean, rail and truck. They use technology and data to drive efficient and effective shipping. RCC has partnered with Flexport in order to ship brachytherapy machines and other technology to low and middle income countries around the world, providing the necessary resources for more effective radiation treatment.

International Atomic Energy Agency

As a central government, the IAEA assists in the coordination and implementation of projects that improve safety and access to radiotherapy where there is a shortage of resources. RCC's efforts align directly with the mission of the IAEA, and novel collaborations could create scalable and translational opportunities for global impact.

 

Academic Collaborations

The Turner Family Center (TFC) has generously provided resources and support for RCC, fueling its mission to alleviate the cancer burden in settings of poverty. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, the TFC Center for Social Ventures guides individuals and organizations seeking to create large-scale social impact.

New York University

Department of Radiation Oncology

Division of Radiation Therapists

RCC is working closely with New York University to establish more education, research, and clinic development programs for radiation therapists and medical technologists in resource-limited settings. Currently projects are being built and explored in Peru and Colombia, focusing on resource assessments, review of clinical protocols, and bidirectional engagement for shared learning and project planning. We are thrilled to grow global health opportunities for ancillary staff in radiation oncology.

Medical Artificial Intelligence and Automation (MAIA) Lab is dedicated to the development and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to improve patient care, particularly in resource-limited settings and for less-experienced clinicians. RCC is excited to work together with MAIA Lab in order to improve cancer care around the world using groundbreaking technology.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center

Department of Radiation Oncology

As an affiliate academic center, the Vanderbilt Department of Radiation Oncology currently helps conduct one of our remote education and training initiatives in Colombia. Faculty and residents gain exposure to global health while clinicians from Colombia gain insights and lessons for how to improve their practice and treat complex cases. Washington University in St. Louis

Department of Radiation Oncology

Washington University Department of Radiation Oncology has provided support to the development and support of our initiatives in Guatemala, as well as extending support to the global expansion of our education and training models. RCC provides a broad pool of resources to boost individual and department-wide projects in Latin America.

The University of Chicago

Radiation Oncology Education Collaborative Study Group

Radiation Oncology Education Collaborative Study Group (ROECSG) seeks to develop novel and innovative radiation oncology educational curricula. RCC and ROOECSG hope to work in perfect syzygy to disseminate innovative radiation oncology curricula globally, and achieve levels 5, 6, and 7 in Moore’s Levels of Outcomes

AUNA

Auna is a network of Peruvian hospitals and clinics that delivers medical services to cancer patients within the country. They seem to redefine what effective cancer care looks like for patients. They have helped inform RCC volunteers of the realities of cancer care in Latin America, as well as support new education, training, and research development in radiation oncology for Latin America.

Fox Chase Cancer Center

As an affiliate academic center, Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Department of Radiation Oncology helped conduct our first remote education and training initiatives for IMRT training in Bolivia. Faculty and residents gain exposure to global health while clinicians from our partner sites gain insights and lessons for how to improve their practice and treat complex cases. Residents and Faculty from Fox Chase continue to help with development of ongoing projects now.
